John Waters

For no particular reason I have declared today John Waters Appreciation Day. If the name doesn’t ring a bell then shame on you! He is an immensely talented filmmaker with films such as Pink Flamingos, Hairspray, and one of my personal favorites, Cry Baby and all of his movies are based in his favorite city, Baltimore. To some his mustache is more iconic than his movies, but I beg to differ. In my opinion, the most iconic thing about him is his personality and how unapologetic he his about himself. He is also an LGBT advocate and helped introduce drag to the mainstream in the with the movie Pink Flamingos and the iconic character and real life drag queen Divine. My favorite quote from him is this,

“We need to make books cool again. If you go home with somebody and they don’t have books, don’t fuck them.”
